Dr Louise Richards

Dr Louise Richards is a Clinical Psychologist with over twelve years of experience in delivering psychological assessment and therapy within the NHS in Scotland. Louise has worked with clients who have moderate to severe difficulties as well as those with more mild issues. Her current areas of special interest include depression, anxiety disorders, difficulties with eating and weight management. She has training and experience in working with complex difficulties, people who are experiencing multiple difficulties at once or those whose who difficulties have been unresponsive to previous therapies.
In her clinical practice she draws on a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Cogntive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Schema Therapy. Therapy is individually tailored to each client and this can mean that a integrative approach is taken where aspects of several therapies are used to best meet the needs of the client.
Louise is also a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society which means that she meets the society ‘gold standard’ of psychological knowledge and expertise and adheres to high levels of ethical practice and shows a commitment to continuing professional development. She is also an Associate Fellow of the BPS and a member of the BPS Division of Clinical Psychology. You can find out more about the BPS here.
Louise can currenlty offer daytime and evening appointments in Stirling for adults with a wide range of difficulies. She can also offer appointments for young people aged 15 and over with eating difficulties.
