Gretchen Keay,
MSc, GMBPsS
Gretchen is a Psychological Therapist working with adults who have mild to moderate psychological challenges including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), panic, phobias, trauma (PTSD), body focused repetitive behaviours and difficulties managing emotions. She works from a belief that the individual is the expert in their experience, with the therapist bringing knowledge and skills. She works together with the client to understand, challenge and enable positive changes to reduce psychological distress. She uses a person centred, compassionate and flexible approach, adapting therapy to meet individual need. She holds the firm belief that we all require support at some point in our lives and recognises the absolute privilege of being able to be alongside others at a difficult time.
Gretchen uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to enable a deeper, shared understanding of current difficulties and works collaboratively with individuals to empower change. Gretchen obtained her MSc in Psychological Therapies in Primary Care within the NHS in an adult mental health primary care setting and in addition has an MSc in Applied Psychology. Gretchen is dedicated to using evidence-based CBT interventions and maintains her education through ongoing professional development. She stays abreast of recent research, using NICE guidelines and the NHS Scotland guidance on delivering evidence based psychological therapies and interventions.
Gretchen is a full member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
Gretchen can offer appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays in person at our Stirling clinic for adult clients during the day with some hours expanded to other days.
